Berea Independent is proud to welcome Dr. Ryan Neaves as our new superintendent! A lifelong educator, devoted father, and passionate advocate for public education, Dr. Neaves brings energy, heart, and vision to our school community.
He began his career as an 8th Grade English teacher at Tichenor Middle School, where he built strong relationships with students and discovered his love for helping young people grow. In addition to teaching, he spent a decade coaching track and field, using athletics as a tool to develop leadership, confidence, and perseverance in student-athletes.
Most recently, Dr. Neaves served as the K-12 Principal at Williamstown Independent Schools, where he led efforts in climate and culture, academic achievement, and providing equitable learning environments for all students. He leads with intention and focus on giving teachers the support they need to be successful and believes in putting community before curriculum. He is an avid reader and a strong believer in the transformative power of public education to change lives and uplift students.
Dr. Neaves is the proud father of three children—Hadley, Lily, and Beau—and brings with him a deep commitment to building schools that feel like family. His leadership is rooted in visibility, relationships, and a belief that schools can do big things when united around a common purpose.
